Sponsors cover most of the real cost of a car show: trophies, signage, insurance, and venue fees. Local businesses will fund it if you make the ask concrete and give them real visibility.
Build a sponsorship package
Tiers work best. Keep it to three so the decision is easy:
- Title sponsor: name on the show (Presented by...), banner at the entrance, mention in all promo, and a booth spot.
- Class sponsor: name attached to one award class, sign at that parking area, social media callout.
- Supporter: logo on the flyer and a thank-you post - smaller shops usually start here.
Who to ask
- Parts stores, performance shops, and detailers - they want your exact crowd.
- Body shops, tire shops, and dealerships in the area.
- Food trucks and local restaurants, who can also sell at the show.
- Insurance agents and credit unions that sponsor community events for goodwill.
Make the ask with numbers
Bring a one-page sheet: expected car count, spectator estimate, your promotion channels, and photos from past events. Sponsors buy eyeballs, so show them the audience they get. Listing your show on Driveway gives you a public event page with real attendance tracking to back up your numbers.
What sponsors get on event day
- A booth or banner space in high-traffic flow, not tucked in a corner.
- A spoken thank-you during awards.
- Photos and a tag in your recap post.
- First right of refusal on next year's title sponsorship.
Most shows clear their entire trophy budget from four to six local sponsors. Start asking 8 to 10 weeks out, and pair it with a solid promotion plan so sponsors see a real marketing engine behind their name.
